If you don’t have solder material at home, you can buy for instance this one: it is cheap and works well. Also, don’t forget you want stereo audio jack, so with two black bands on the plug (and not one, or three as for smartphones). On some modern 3.5mm audio jacks, you find both channels in one wire, and it sometimes brings problems (pers. If you want to buy other ones, think about buying some that are “double-wired” (each channel in a separate wire). These very cheap audio jacks work well, and you can use them twice. I eventually came across a soindflower kernel extensionīottom line, after I downloaded that and set up inputs and outputs on Mac and Audacity for soundflower I finally got things working and recorded the 1 1/2 hour webinar perfectly. I had tried that, downloaded it, installed it - got the message that installation was successful, but then couldn't find the app in my applications folder or anywhere else on my Mac.

I eventually found out that a valid soundflower application no longer exists although one can download it from various places on the net. Rogue Amoeba had no resources/interest in the product and in 2015 the original author got involved again but from what I have been able to find out, he hasn't done anything withit either. Turns out the original developer passed the product on to a company called Cycling '74 who in turn in 2014 passed it on to Rogue Amoeba. I eventually came to the conclusion that the basic problem actually related to soundflower. Based on my research and trials, to record a streaming web broadcast using Quicktime requires Soundflower as well.
